Corporate Structure of ASU NAA

The Albany State University Alumni Association is a corporation, a legally recognized organization under the laws of the State of Georgia. The Association is classified as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization formed solely for philanthropic purposes.

The Albany State University Alumni Association encompasses the following components:
                   
The National Organization:
The whole of the organization includes Chapters and Standing Committees.

The Association is charged with establishing laws for the governance of its Association, providing centralized membership and financial records, adopting programs for the benefit of members, providing communications link between all chapters and members, preserving the ideal and traditions of ASU and promoting its welfare.

The Board of Directors:
The Board of Directors is charged with establishing policies to the General Body, as well as to provide for the well-being of the Association when the General Body is not in session. The national president chairs the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors consists of the eight elected members:
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and four Members-at-Large.
Also serving on the Board is the Immediate Past President, by virtue of the position;
General Counsel, appointed by the president and confirmed by a majority vote of the Board;
All board members are voting members.

The General Office:
The National Office is the administrative hub of the Association – responsible for maintaining membership records, providing technical and staff support to chapters, receiving all funds and providing a communications link with the Association and the general public.
